opportunities

Thanks for looking for opportunities to help! Fostering is our most significant volunteer role. Other opportunities include:

Fundraising: join our email list to find out when the next fundraising event is on so you can help make cheese rolls, sell raffle tickets, harvest kindling….

Trapping: we use humane plate traps to trap strays when these have been reported to us. You need to have your own vehicle and be able to transport kitty to the vet clinic or foster home.

Cleaning:  At times, due to a shortage of fosterers, some foster have a large foster family, or their non-foster life gets busy or difficult, and it can be hard to keep up with the cleaning. We don’t often need volunteers for this, but if you are willing to muck in with some cleaning, it really helps to lighten the load. Usually up to an hour would do it.

help from home

Independent Fundraising: We love when people create their own fundraiser and donate the money to the rescue work we do. We have had adults hold a firewood raffle, music and live painting events; children have held a cake or craft stall, or sold fruit from the end of their driveway. We have had one primary school child ask for donations instead of birthday presents, and another who donated half the pet-sitting money they had earned. We are truly touched by these gestures, and the funds are gratefully received. For bigger events, get in touch if you have any queries or if we can assist with promotion, advertising etc.

Knitting/sewing: We love to give our kittens a keep toy to take with them to their new home. If you’re crafty at all, you could make knitted mice or a knitted pet blanket (anyone remember knitting peggy squares at Brownies in  the 70s and 80s?). If you prefer the sewing machine, then find some fleece or baby blankets at our fabulous local second hand shops (or we can provide for you) and transform into bespoke cat blankets. (We are mindful of our earth’s resources, so we’d love to see some pre-loved fabrics upcycled into cat blankets).
